Dr.Zhyvago Clinic provides psychiatric and psychotherapeutic care for children and adolescents aged 1.5 to 18. Appointments are available in person in Kyiv and online when a remote format is appropriate for the child's age, needs and clinical situation. Family consultations are also available.
A good consultation begins where the child feels comfortable
Children may feel anxious in a doctor's office. To understand a child's behaviour in familiar situations, the specialist may ask parents to provide selected videos recorded in the child's usual environment. Parents receive clear guidance on what may be useful to record. Video material supplements the clinical assessment; it does not replace consultation with the child and family.

Seeking help does not make someone a bad parent
Consider seeking professional advice when:
- conversations with the child regularly end in conflict;
- you notice persistent mood changes, withdrawal or loss of interest;
- the child behaves aggressively towards themselves or others;
- they frequently leave home without agreement or spend most of their time online;
- learning, concentration, memory, sleep or communication difficulties interfere with daily life;
- contact with the child has deteriorated and you do not know how to help.
These signs can have different causes and do not establish a diagnosis on their own. A qualified assessment helps distinguish a temporary reaction to stress from a mental health or developmental condition and identifies appropriate support.
Assessment
The specialist takes a developmental and health history, discusses difficulties with the child and parents, and assesses mental state and the effect of symptoms at home, in education and in social situations. Further medical, psychological or educational assessments may be recommended when needed. Questionnaires and tests can supplement but do not replace a clinical consultation.
How we can help
- assess the child's emotional, behavioural and developmental needs;
- provide help for depression, anxiety, phobias and sleep difficulties;
- develop communication, emotional regulation and problem-solving skills;
- help the child and family understand a diagnosis and treatment plan;
- provide individual, parent-child and family sessions when indicated;
- coordinate psychiatric, psychological and psychotherapeutic care.
Consultations may be held individually or together with parents, depending on the child's age, clinical needs and consent requirements. The individual plan may include psychological support, psychotherapy, environmental modifications and medication when prescribed by a psychiatrist for a clinical indication.
The role of parents and confidentiality
Parents or legal representatives usually play an important role in assessment and treatment: they share information, help follow recommendations and support the child at home. As adolescents grow older, they are increasingly involved in decisions about their care.
The specialist explains confidentiality and its limits in an age-appropriate way. Information is handled in accordance with applicable law and professional obligations. If there is an immediate risk to the child or another person, the clinician takes the steps needed to protect safety.
Please note
The clinic does not issue reports for courts, guardianship authorities or migration services. Before booking, the administrator can help clarify which specialist and appointment format may be appropriate. An online appointment does not replace emergency care.
