How is an appointment with a psychiatrist

A psychiatrist deals with the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders: he diagnoses and carries out an examination of mental illnesses, determines the necessary medications, and adjusts the treatment. The purpose of his work is to make the symptoms less obvious or to eliminate them altogether.

During the examination, the psychiatrist examines:
• life history
• medical history
• results of past treatment, if available
• the results of additional studies
